So, a 3.9gb patch for BF3. I miss the old days. Remember when we thought a 600mb Desert Combat patch was large. Lol. Gah!

Yeah, DICE apparently doesn't care that we all have bandwidth limits...

Seri ously when the current Net Neutrality is killed by corporations and they all start instigating more restrictive bandwidths for the current price they charge, the patches are going to be even bigger.

People don't have 4gigs of free bandwidth to throw at a patch. I know how that argument will going.

Check it:

"Honey we can't watch the new movie we planned on streaming?

"Oh really, and why is that?" Her hands akimbo.

"I just checked our mileage, and we only have enough bandwidth to do either a movie with one gig left or patch my game up but not have enough to watch the movie?"

"You mean to tell me that you are actually propositioning me to play your game?"

"I don't understand."

" You want something done for you that no one else in the house even plays."

"But I have a tournament mat...oh god..."

"God, I nearly thought I'd have to slap you."

"Yeah, I can't believe I nearly sounded like someone who plays mmos and raids even when it's his wife birthday."

Exasperated sigh, "and here I thought I was getting through to you..."

I think Dice needs to invest in a better compression technology...ap parently the one they have is really strong, but not quite as strong as it should be. Edited Fri Dec 09 2011, 03:05AM

I agree, Anti. This is about the ONLY thing I agree with Obama on. Net Neutrality not only allows small internet companies to stay in business, it keeps big ones from gouging the public. Limits are a huge step backwards. Remember when you had dial-up and were only allowed 20 hours usage a month?!! It was like $10 each hour over. It was horrible. If Net Neutrality goes down, that's what we're looking at. Tighter caps, and higher fees. Ugh!

I have to say I was unaware of his stance on net neutrality...bu t I do know he was a lot of bluster and no substance when he spoke about not putting drilling moratoriums on shallow drilling...

Ho nestly if it wasn't for the tech's nature of constant change, I think the neutrality would have been taken away from us long ago. All it takes is a fast enough speed and a good enough connection and I can tell you the domestic ISPs will tie their own noose to competition outside of the country. Edited Fri Dec 09 2011, 04:47AM
