I know I'm going to need a new computer for Battlefield 3. Is now a good time to upgrade, or are there new hardware developments just around the corner?

Also, do you think I should get one super-duper graphics card, or two not-as-nice cards in SLI mode?

Thanks, my brothers.

Now is the freakin' awesome time to buy dude. New vidcards are not far off, but for the rest of the system, now is perfect. RAM has never been cheaper. You'll end up dropping more money on a powersupply and videocard than anything else. Also, I think one great video card is better, but that's just me. Less power usage and whatnot. But then, I've never done sli/crossfire. Never had need to really. I'm waiting for the next video card series before I buy though. We'll see how that goes. Heh heh. You got till the end of October. So, no rush. WAIT til sept. Labor Day to get those huge sales!!!

Opinions?

I also need a video card, too, but have no idea what to get.

the longer you wait the better. I'd probably build it a month before bf3 comes out. you could build one now, doesn't cost more than 1k to build something that played the alpha on high settings.

Those are awesome choices. That mobo will support all 24Gb of that superb memory. That's the memory I have, btw. Only 8Gb. Ha.

Don't forget to buy the OS. I've got Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit and love it :)

Get yourself a massive 12v single-rail powersupply. Don't be fooled by those ps's that say dual and quad. You only need the one.

Heck, you're building a system. You must be doing fantastic these days. =)

Video card? Dunno. Depends what you're willing to put out for it. Here's the benchmark link I always post. It's updated often with all the latest and greatest cards:
