Yes, it's true folks. I was working on a quiz today and I had some extra time and saw this clip featured on Yahoo! about this octopus that took this guy's camera. I watched to the part right where it jumped in his face and my computer froze completely. I restarted and I heard a pop sound. I can't even turn it on now so I'm guessing it's the power supply. :( Damn you octopus for breaking my computer! |

I recommend Enermax, Silverstone, and PC Power&Cooling, if you get any of these in 80+ with good reviews to boot, you're golden. I'm currently running an Enermax Galaxy DXX. I know there are other good brands but I have no experience with them...other forum members may however. |

And before you throw out that old power supply, you can carefully remove the fan(s) from inside it. They'll work as spare case fans as well. Just don't touch the other stuff in there. It can still electrocute you even if it's unplugged since it stores a bit of energy.

Stupid aquatic based, spineless, ink spewing, camera grabbing, good for nothing except for a menu item at your local chinese take out joint, squishy faced...I'm out of breath. I'm running an AeroCool. Have been for about 3 years or so now. |

Do any of those have any sort of warranty? I know some of the bigger brands like OCZ, Thermaltake, and Corsair typically have 3 years on them, which is really nice.

Enermax has a 3 year. And I've used two Ultra PSU's in the past, I like their cheap price and the modular cabling but both failed within 2 years, I suspect this has to do with the modular connections they have, which don't give you as stable a power flow as non-modular cables do. An ideal solution is having both types of cabling if case clutter is huge issue with you. Just make sure you check out some newegg reviews and such on whatever you do pick up. Bottom line, going cheap on a PSU is not a good thing. |

I had an ULTRA non mod back when I built my first rig. It lasted for about 4 years. I know ANTEC has a limited 1 year warranty, but their products are solid, and a warranty is just a safety net.
