I've had this WD Raptor for about 5 years now and have been loving it. Sadly I'm running out of space on it. It's 150gb. So I'm thinking about getting a new one but the Velociraptor 300gb is out of my price range so I'm looking at 7200 rpm drives now. Any suggestions?

Depends on your budget. I know you said the 300 is out of your price range, but what about another 150 and you could put them in Raid 0. Or if you want, you could just do a 500gb WD 7200 drive for $70. Personally, I love WD. I've always used their hardrives and have yet to have one crash on me *knock on wood*

I'd probably look at something like this one. Great reviews too.

Or if you wanted to up the storage a bit, you could shoot for a 1Tb for roughly 30 bucks more.

Thanks Mooch. I was looking at that one myself. This is the 2nd drive I've owned. I've it put into and have taken it out of a couple computers before it landed in my current one. It's been great. Edited Wed Dec 16 2009, 05:34PM

Both my samsung drives (both 7200rpm) have run way better than my WD drives. They're always 5-10 degrees cooler. I don't know why WD HD's run so hot, but I'll stick with my Samsung for that reason alone. That probably doesn't help you, but I just thought I'd put in my quarter penny of a thought :P

I bought the WD Caviar Black 500GB. Just got it today. It's installed and running. Lots of stuff to install and update though. Got all my Microsoft updates and am now working on games and other random crap.
